Stabilized pool chlorine contains cyanuric acid, a stabilizer used to achieve optimal water quality and well-balanced bathing water. Cyanuric acid stabilizes the water's content of free chlorine and pH. In addition, the stabilizer protects the chlorine chemically from the sun's UV rays, i.e. the sun burns off less of the chlorine. In small concentrations, this is a positive effect, but at high concentrations of cyanuric acid in the water supplied by unilateral use of chlorine with a stabilizer, the protective effect becomes so severe that the chlorine loses its effect. The water has been overstabilized, which means that a chlorine lock has occurred. As a result, the water becomes greenish and cloudy at the same time that the hygienic level drops drastically.

Chlorine tabs make it easy to maintain pool water quality. Chlorine tabs have been developed for the continuous maintenance of the purity of the pool water. We recommend a chlorine content of between 0.5 and 1.0 mg/l for pools with normal activity and a chlorine content of between 1.0 and 3.0 mg/l for pools with high activity. The pH and chlorine level should be checked and adjusted regularly. When traveling away or on holiday, chlorine tablets are particularly suitable if a neighbor or friend has to look after the pool.
